We believe that wine is made equally in the vineyard and in the winery. In the vineyards, we focus on older well-established vines with natural balance. In the cellar we work to capture what the vines give us…to make wines that exude freshness, bright acidity, complexity, and depth.

We harvested the La Pelle Sauvignon Blanc at dawn with fruit arriving at the winery very early in the morning where it was then whole cluster pressed. The juice settled in tank for 24 hours, after which it was transferred to French Oak barrels (50% in Cigare shaped barrels) for fermentation and aging.
Cold fermentation for 4-5 weeks with the use of three different yeasts allowed us to capture aromas of stone-fruit which are so characteristic of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The wine aged on the lees without any racking for 19 months to build up texture and mid-palate weight, resulting in a wine that is fresh and crisp with beautiful natural acidity.

The La Pelle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that hail from two vineyard sources; one within the Coombsville appellation and the other in St. Helena. The wine was aged in 50% new French Oak barrels for 18 months. Vibrant with dark tones, the wine is powerful with well-integrated tannins and has a great sense of freshness backed by natural acidity and a lengthy finish.

The La Pelle Reserve is a blend composed mostly of Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The wine is selected from our best lots and aged for 21 months in 80% new French Oak barrels. Dark and powerful with excellent structure, the wine has a vibrant texture and layers of well-integrated tannins. Amongst the layers of dark cherry and plum, there lies a hint of dark chocolate and a long, lingering finish. The wine is drinking well young but is built to age for years to come.
